Today, we learned more details about the color options for this year's iPhone 18 Pro. This report has naturally raised many questions about the future of the popular cosmic orange iPhone 17 Pro color...

Will the iPhone 18 Pro Come with Cosmic Orange Color Option?

The iPhone 17 Pro is unique for many reasons, such as the new camera platform and the two-tone back design. However, the biggest difference is the cosmic orange; this means that it is the first time a "Pro" model iPhone has been offered in such a bright and bold color.

All signs indicate that cosmic orange has been a huge success for the iPhone 17 Pro.

A report by Financial Times in February noted that the cosmic orange color is particularly popular in China, with shoppers referring to this color as "Hermès orange" instead of Apple's official name.

So, what does this mean for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, which will be released later this year?

In February, Mark Gurman from Bloomberg wrote that it would not “surprise” him if Apple retained cosmic orange due to its popularity.

Today, however, a report by Macworld stated that a new "dark cherry" color will replace cosmic orange in the iPhone 18 Pro series.

While the dark cherry color may not be as bright and striking as cosmic orange, it will be unique enough to distinguish the new iPhone 18 Pro. As usual, Apple is expected to cancel its current color options, including cosmic orange.

According to Macworld, the iPhone 18 Pro will be available in light blue, dark cherry, silver, and dark gray color options.

Opinion of 9to5Mac

In my opinion, it makes sense for Apple to retire cosmic orange with the iPhone 18 Pro this year. I believe that Apple makes many of its iPhone color decisions based on fashion trends and the fashion industry.

In the fashion world, colors come and go cyclically. The reason cosmic orange is so special for the iPhone 17 Pro is its uniqueness. If it continues for multiple generations, it will lose some of its appeal. As kids say, it might even become "stale."

Historically, Apple has changed the "unique" color of each year when a new phone is released. The iPhone 12 Pro was offered in ocean blue, the iPhone 13 Pro in sierra blue and later alpine green, and the iPhone 14 Pro in deep purple.

What do you think? Will the iPhone 18 Pro come with a cosmic orange color option? Should it? Let us know in the comments.
