Rumors continue about this fall's new iPhone 18 series, but there is still one major question mark: how many iPhones will Apple introduce?

The iPhone Air 2 Will Determine Whether Apple Will Offer Four New Models or Just Three This Fall

There is a general consensus on many aspects of this fall's iPhone series.

For example, many reports suggest that the base iPhone 18 model will not be introduced until early 2027; this is a significant change for the fall series.

However, there are at least three new models that are definitely coming:

  • iPhone 18 Pro
  • iPhone 18 Pro Max
  • iPhone Ultra / Fold

Rumors provide a good idea of the updates expected in the iPhone 18 Pro.

It is anticipated that new colors will likely be deep red, a smaller Dynamic Island will be introduced, numerous camera improvements will be made, battery life will be further enhanced, and more.

Similarly, we have heard a lot about the iPhone Ultra recently - Apple's first foldable model.

However, reports about Apple's next iPhone Air are quite limited and even contradictory.

Several sources have stated that the iPhone Air 2 will come in the spring of 2027. However, a well-known leak source has repeatedly asserted that Apple will introduce it alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone Ultra this fall.

This leak source, Fixed Focus Digital, is known for its supply chain connections, making its words particularly reliable. It also indicated that the new Air will be an update with minimal external changes; this may explain why there have been so few rumors from other sources. If Apple is not making many changes, it is easier for the new model to fly under the radar.

However, the conflicting reports are currently creating uncertainty about whether Apple's iPhone 18 series this fall will include the typical four new models or just three.

Personally, I believe the iPhone Air 2 will be introduced this fall, allowing Apple to maintain its standard four-model lineup. However, if a new iPhone Air is indeed coming, we can expect more leaks in that direction as mass production ramps up in the summer.
