iOS 26.4 is the latest iPhone update that stands out with many new features in Apple Music. Additionally, there is a music-related improvement in the Control Center in iOS 26.4: Shazam song recognition will now work offline.

Shazam song recognition in Control Center now works offline with iOS 26.4

iOS 26.4 is the latest major update for the iPhone and is currently in the beta testing phase of iOS 26.5.

One of the new features in iOS 26.4 is an improvement in the Shazam song recognition feature.

According to the official iOS 26.4 release notes:

Offline Music Recognition in Control Center identifies songs without an internet connection and automatically sends the results when you are online.

The Control Center is a way to quickly and conveniently get details about the song playing around you. I constantly use the Shazam 'Identify Music' feature.

But there have definitely been times when I missed the opportunity when my connection was poor while trying to identify a song.

Now, with iOS 26.4, this will no longer be an issue.

Thanks to the new update, the iPhone can now record the audio data of the track even when it is offline. When the iPhone's connection improves, it will send a notification along with the Shazam song recognition results.

This is a small but nice change in the Control Center feature that I use regularly.

If you haven't set up the Shazam control in the Control Center yet, you can long press on an empty area, tap 'Add Control', and search for 'Identify Music'.

Have you ever tried using Shazam while offline? Let us know in the comments.
