Following the release of iOS 26.4.1 last week, Apple has today stopped signing the iOS 26.4 version. What does this mean?
Apple no longer signs iOS 26.4 installations
MacRumors noted that Apple stopped signing the iOS 26.4 version earlier today. This means that it is now impossible to revert to the previous system version before iOS 26.4.1.
Apple typically stops signing older iOS versions for one of two reasons: either the current version is considered stable enough, or the updated system version addresses serious security vulnerabilities in previous versions.
When Apple released iOS 26.4.1, the release notes only stated that this version "provides bug fixes for your iPhone." Similarly, the company’s security website indicated that there were no CVE (essentially, unique identifiers for security bug fixes) records published for iOS 26.4.1.
After the release of iOS 26.4.1, users noticed that the update fixed an iCloud synchronization error, but currently, what is known about the system is limited to these points.
Fortunately, if you were thinking of downgrading from iOS 26.4.1 to iOS 26.4 for any reason, it seems you have missed your chance.
